Project Overview
Project location: Mariveles, Philippines
Products: Steel structure and steel wind dust suppression fence
Construction area: 2,305 m²
Windscreen height: 17 m
Windscreen material: Perforated steel panel
The Philippines frequently experiences typhoons, and the Mariveles power plant is located in a coastal area exposed to strong winds throughout the year. Coal unloading and storage operations generate large amounts of dust. During typhoon seasons, strong winds can significantly increase dust dispersion and material loss while posing risks to stockpiles and equipment.
Local environmental regulations require effective dust control measures. The protective system must therefore withstand typhoon-level wind loads and resist corrosion caused by the coastal high-salinity environment.
The project adopted a “steel coal shed + windbreak fence” dust control solution. The coal shed provides full enclosure of the coal stockpile, preventing dust escape and reducing material loss at the source.
The windbreak fence supplied by our company uses high-strength perforated galvanized steel panels with electrostatic powder coating, ensuring strong corrosion resistance in coastal environments. The perforation rate and hole pattern were optimized through wind tunnel testing to allow stable airflow passage while reducing wind velocity and minimizing vortex formation.
The windbreak fence effectively reduces wind speed inside the coal shed, forming a dual dust control system of enclosed structure plus windbreak protection. The design withstands typhoon-level wind loads without deformation or collapse under extreme weather conditions.
The system successfully prevents secondary dust emissions, achieving a dust suppression efficiency of over 85%, helping the facility meet the Philippine DENR environmental standards.
